International Dialogue
Through cooperation with PASSIA - the Palestinian Academic Society for the Study of International Affairs – the FES offers its important Palestinian partners from the fields of politics and research the ability to express their perspectives on current issues in national and international forums. International decision makers as well as representatives of international institutions in Palestine have the opportunity to take part in PASSIA roundtables, briefings and forums. Short descriptions of the events can be found here under events.
The future of the city of Jerusalem is a major point of contention in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In cooperation with the International Peace and Cooperation Center (IPCC) the FES promotes Israeli-Palestinian dialogue and the cooperative development of models for Israeli-Palestinian coexistence. Alternative options for peaceful and just coexistence between ethnic groups in Jerusalem are developed through research and consulting work and publicly presented. Political guests from Germany are also given expert briefings.
The Jerusalem-Berlin-Forum, a cooperative initiative of the FES Palestine and Israel which has been active since 2001, works towards an Israeli-Palestinian solution for Jerusalem as physically united yet politically partitioned capital of two states. Following the development of various scenarios for the city on the part of Palestinians and Israelis and supported by urban planners and academics from Berlin the project focus rests upon the concrete formulation of intervention strategies.
