Dr. Michael Bröning
Director of the FES office in Jerusalem

Dr. Michael Bröning is currently the Director of FES in the occupied Palestinian Territories. He has previously served as Director of the FES Offices in Jordan and Iraq and was Desk Officer for West Africa in the FES Berlin and Bonn Head Offices.

Michael Bröning completed his postsecondary education in Economics, Social Sciences, History, and International Relations in Germany and the United Kingdom. His PhD thesis examined German-Israeli relations in the Israeli Press (summa cum laude) and was awarded the Herbert Wehner Scholarship for outstanding academic achievements.

Michael Bröning is a native German speaker and fluent in English and French with proficiency in Hebrew and Arabic. In addition to his responsibilities as director, he is a member of the editorial board of the German academic journal "Internationale Politik und Gesellschaft".
